Are buyer's agents worth it?

Quick answer

For most buyers, yes. A good buyer's agent typically saves more through negotiation and off-market access than they charge, plus weeks of time and the cost of an emotional, overpriced purchase.

It's a fair question, you're adding a fee to the biggest purchase of your life. The honest answer: it depends on the agent, but for most buyers the value is clear.

Where the value comes from

Three places, mainly:

  • Price, disciplined appraisal and negotiation keep you from paying the emotional price.
  • Access, off-market and pre-market stock you'd never find alone, with less competition.
  • Time & stress, no more weekends of open homes, missed opportunities and second-guessing.
  • Avoiding mistakes, due diligence that stops a costly wrong purchase.

When might it not be worth it?

If you have deep local knowledge, time to dedicate, and the discipline to negotiate hard yourself, you may not need full service, which is why we also offer à la carte help, like auction bidding or a single appraisal.
